Born 10 August 1943 in Zutphen as Hendrik Jan Meemelink, I spent after the Royal Academy of Art
at The Hague (Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten), 30 year of my life as
an editor of which 16 years of the monthly Groei & Bloei of
the Dutch Royal Horticultural Society (Koninklijke Maatschappij Tuinbouw en Plantkunde). Made an acquaintance in 1977 with antiquarian natural history books by buying Albertus Seba's cabinet of natural curiosities in book form: Locupletissimi rerum naturalium thesauri … and since then sticked to flower books as a collector and subsequently as an antiquarian bookseller. Issued a first catalogue in 1986 with antiquarian flower, garden and botanical books in the widest sense. Now I have also an ample collection of flower and fruit prints and probably the largest commercially available collection of seed and nursery catalogues. Printed catalogues are still issued regularly and will be sent upon request. But nowadays the internet takes much attention by a most elaborate website, describing and illustrating my stock. Member Nederlandsche Vereeniging van Antiquaren (NVvA), associated with the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB): www.ilab-lila.com. The League publishes and upholds a code of ethics based on the wide experience of all its national associations. Antiquariaat Jan Meemelink is situated in the quarter of Clingendael, next to
the headquarter of the ANWB, the park of Clingendael (worth a visit), Haagse
Bos (with the royal palace Huis ten Bosch). In the northern part of Den
Haag, bordering Wassenaar. Jan Meemelink
