American literary classic on gardening in the second
impression. The first was printed in 1894, and only the year on the
title-page was changed. The bright chromolithographed plates and
text-illustrations by the early American impressionist Childe Hassam. Her
garden on Appledore Island, which Celia Thaxter here describes, is still
extant and forms a faithful recreation of the garden she grew in 1893. It is
now maintained by volunteers of Shoals Marine Laboratory.www.meemelink.com · gardening |
