"… (1761-1807), French botanist and zoologist at Montpellier, collector in Morocco …. and the Canary Islands … later professor at the Montpellier medical school and director of its botanical garden" (Stafleu & Cowan). He returned to Montpellier in 1803 and devoted himself to the revival and expansion of the botanical garden. Just before his death he published this first catalog of the garden’s collections. Pritzel and Jackson mention an Appendix of 1806, pp. 18 (not seen by Stafleu & Cowan).
