Jean Jules Linden (1817-1898), Luxembourg botanical explorer, plant dealer at Luxemburg, director
of the Jardin royal de Zoologie et d’Horticulture, Brussels. Continuing his
activities as plant introducer and dealer both in Brussels and Gent (buying the
Ambroise Verschaffelt nursery in 1873) in his firms Compagnie continentale
d’horticulture and l’Horticulture internationale. Linden issued sales catalogues
from 1846 onward, which often contained descriptions of new taxa as well as
illustrations of new or rare plants. They are frequently cited in the literature
and difficult to find.* Not in Stafleu & Cowan.
