The Icones plantarum rariorum
is one of Jacquin’s most impressive productions. The work is notable for the
first illustrations by the brilliant brothers Franz and Ferdinand Bauer. Other
artists involved were Joseph Hofbauer and Joseph Scharf. The plates were
engraved by Jakob Adam, one of Jacquin’s better engravers. The finely coloured
