The beautiful
hand-coloured engravings of this periodical are by George Cooke from drawings by
George Loddiges, William Loddiges and others. They depict plants growing in the
Hackney nursery, founded by Conrad Loddiges and bearing his name. The
establishment became famous for its many rare plants. A total of 20 volumes were
